Qi can be defined as ‘energy’ and gong ‘work’.
Through the pracitse of Qi Gong we are working with our life energy; learning to tune into its flow and through the different movements or forms shifting the blockages held within, thus improving our health and the harmony of mind and body. It is an empowering practise that can be done daily or as often as suits the individual, and one that helps develop a clear, tranquil state of mind with a deeper self awareness and connection with nature. There are also a vast repertoire of Qi Gong self healing techniques to deal effectively with different states of health, stress or disease.
Tao Te Ching
‘The highest good is like water
Water gives life to the 10,000 things and does not strive
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.
In dwelling be close to the land
In meditation, go deep into the heart.
In dealing with others be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true
In ruling, be just.
In business, be competent.
In action, watch the timing
NO fight: No blame”
Sound – Toning & Mantra
Toning uses your voice to express sounds that help you to release, balance, accept, or create, depending upon the sounds and your intent. Toning also expands the body’s ability to breathe deeply. This not only gives the body more oxygen but also expands all of your energies, helping to keep you healthy.
Mantra is defined as a word or sound that repeats to aid concentration in meditation. The practising of certain Mantras such as the Heart Sutra Mantra allow practioners to drop deeply into our heart mind. The opening of the heart and cultivating of heart energy combined with Qi Gong Self Healing Forms adds a beautiful depth to the practise.
Scientifically studied by many around the world including Mitchell L. Gaynor, M.D., a leading oncologist and director of integrative medicine at the Strang-Cornell Cancer Prevention Center. Dr. Gaynor states in his book The Healing Power of Sound, that:
“the very tools high-tech scientists have used to understand modecular biology are revealing that mind-body communication occurs on the deepest levels of cellular function. Based on my reviews of this burgeoning research, I have come to believe that mind and body are not merely connected, they are unified. I also believe that understanding mind-body unity is essential to recognizing how sound—which has vibratory effects on cells, organs, emotional effect on the brain, and which taps a spiritual dimension as yet undefined—is the next frontier in holistic healing.”
Qi Gong & Sound combined are thus deeply nourishing, relaxing and inspiring and the space created through the practise allows the wisdom and creativity held within to shine forth:
